Q: Who can sponsor a child?
A:
Everyone can sponsor a child. Single persons or groups. The written permission of a parent is required for sponsors under the age of 18.

Q: Will I be the only person sponsoring the child I'm helping?
A:
Most likely each child will have 1 - 3 sponsors. If your monthly donation covers all needs (food: $32.00, school: $50.00 medical expenses & school supplies: $20.00) then you will be the only sponsor of the child.

Q: What are the benefits the child I sponsor will receive?
A:
Sponsoring a child makes sure that the child gets enough food every day ($32.00/month), he/she can go to school ($50.00/month) and pay for his/her school supplies as well as medical expenses ($20.00/month).

Q: How does Children of Malawi ensure that my support actually benefits the child I sponsor?
A:
We directly send all finances and letters to the administrator of our ministry in Blantyre, Malawi who distributes the funds and letters directly to each sponsored child/family. We personally oversee the projects, guaranteeing that your funds are properly administrated.

Q: What payment options do I have?

You can make your payments via check, credit card or in cash.

Q: Are my donations to Children of Malawi tax-deductible?
A:
Yes, all your contributions to Children of Malawi are tax-deductible.

Q: How do I become a sponsor?
A:
Visit our sponsorship page, fill our the sponsorship form and mail it to us together with your first payment.

Q: When does my sponsorship start?
A:
Your sponsorship begins when we receive your first monthly payment.

Q: How long should my sponsorship last?
A:
Children of Malawi offers you the opportunity to sponsor children for several years, until they graduate from Secondary School. You will also have the opportunity to continue sponsoring your child after he/she finished Secondary School and goes to college. However, you may discontinue your sponsorship at any time after you notify us of your intentions.

Q: What happens to my child if I have to discontinue the sponsorship?
A:
If you must discontinue your sponsorship, please let us know as far in advances as possible so we have a chance to find a new sponsor for your child. However, we encourage our sponsors to help us find a new sponsor for the child make sure that the child's needs are met at all times.

Q: Will I be able to communicate with the child I sponsor?
A:
Yes! we encourage our sponsors to write letters to their children in Malawi. You will find more information about communicating with your sponsored child in the correspondence starter kit which you will receive with your welcome package.

Q: Is it possible to make a one-time donation?
A:
Yes! You are welcome to make one-time donations. Learn more about making a one-time donation.

Q: Are there other ways to support Africa other than sponsoring a single child?
A:
There are several ways to support our Africa mission: Make a one-time donation, donate your empty bottles or donate a Bible to Africa.
