HIV / AIDS in Malawi Africa

aids ribbonAIDS (Aquired Imunne Deficiency Syndrome) is a disease of the human immune system and is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Malawi's first AIDS case was reported in 1985. Today there are over 1,000,000 people living with the HIV virus in Malawi (Source: unaids.org) and the number is rapidly growing. Most orphans in Malawi lost one or both parents to AIDS.

AIDS cannot be cured but it can be prevented. Therefore we need to address inadequate knowledge of HIV in Malawi and teach about this disease and how it can be prevented.
